October 2007 saw David Hunt enter into formal art education.
In his first accademic year, which was very much a time of experimentation, encouraged David to consider in which direction to take his art.
Right from the off, David latched onto landscape painting. Despite a brief reassesment of his 1996-2006 Limboid inspirations and his consideration of portraiture, still life and pure abstraction. By the end of David's first academic year, it was clear that landscape was to dominate his interest. It is with landscape that David has persisted and continues to explore.
David says that "landscape has always been a painters subject", but he adds, "Landscape painting in the 21st century is both cliched by it's historical past, yet it is still a subject which captures the audiences immagination". The only trouble here, is that the immagination of contemporary culture is clouded by the constructions of mass culture, and it is this problem that David's current work is attempting to address.
